Thousands of kids all over the planet are joining PETA’s
army of animal advocates – and here is where we shine
the spotlight on their hard work. Hey, kids, we know you do
good deeds because you care about animals, but it is OK to brag
a little about the ways you are making the world a better place
for our animal friends. Tell us how YOU help animals, and you
could be our featured Superstar of the Month!
Ankit Agarwal from Indore has loved animals since he was a child. He believes that humans do not have the right to take the life of another living being. Ankit does his part to help any animals in need he comes across.
One day, when Ankit was going out, he saw an injured puppy who was lying on the road. The puppy had been in an accident; she had a big wound on her front left leg and was unable to walk.
Ankit asked passers-by to help him take this puppy home, but they discouraged him, saying that his mother would punish him for touching the dog. Ankit did not listen to them; he persisted in trying to find someone to help. Finally, with the help of his friends, Ankit managed to take the dog home, where he sought the help of a veterinarian. Armed with the vet’s prescription, Ankit got the medicines to treat the wound on the puppy, whom he named Rani. At first, it was difficult for Ankit to take care of Rani and apply the medicine to her wounds, but he learned how to do it properly. As time passed and as Ankit took care of her, Rani started on the road to recovery. Ankit knew he would not be able to keep her, as he was not able to devote the kind of time and care which a dog needs. Even though it broke his heart, once Rani was well, Ankit took Rani back to her mother and the rest of her family. To see Rani’s mother lovingly rush towards her made Ankit feel better. Rani is now living happily with her family, and Ankit stops by to see her often.
If you see an animal in distress, never give up. Remember, animals cannot help themselves – they are dependent on you.
